The real estate market is heating up this month. Here’s what you need to know.

Throughout Fairfield County, Thanksgiving was a time for turkey, trimmings, family and friends.

Real estate, too.

Every KMS partner noticed an uptick in activity. It’s unusual for this time of year – but we’ve noticed it on both the buying and selling side.

Sellers are prepping their homes. They’re de-cluttering. Updating. Taking care of repairs. Neutralizing their décor, to better appeal to a broad market.

We fielded a number of calls from potential sellers over Thanksgiving weekend. There were questions about pricing and timing. They’re consulting with realtors, hoping to optimize their listings long before the traditional post-Super Bowl blitz.

Buyers are starting to shop too. They’re assessing the marketplace. Scouting locations. Checking out inventory.

Interest rates are competitive. If they like what they see, they’re ready to buy.

As we noted recently, December is a great month for buyers and sellers. There’s time to reassess goals for the new year. Time to evaluate relocation options. Time to think about moving up, or downsizing.

As we carved our turkeys, we gave thanks for many things: Living in beautiful Fairfield County. Being surrounded by loved ones. And being able to help so many clients – new and old, at every stage of their lives – make the most of the real estate market this month.
