Check out Jazz in the Garden, at Weir Farm National Historic Site. It doesn’t get more entertaining – and historic – than this.

Located in Wilton and Ridgefield, Weir Farm is the only national park dedicated to American painting. Established in 1990 to preserve a significant site of American Impressionism and commemorating the life and work of painter J. Alden Weir and other artists who stayed at the site or lived there, the property includes 16 buildings on 60 acres of land (with a hiking trail). Tours are offered by National Park Service rangers.

But this weekend, Weir Farm is all about music. The Dan Brubeck Quartet plays Sunday (September 20) from 3-5 p.m. The group will play selections that celebrate the music and lyrics of Dave and Iola Brubeck – the quartet leader’s parents. Dan Brubeck’s most recent 2-CD set earned rave reviews from NPR, Downbeat and many others.

It’s no coincidence they’re playing at Weir Farm. The Brubecks were longtime residents of Wilton. As KMS Partners know, there truly is no place like home.

(All parking for the event will be at Branchville Elementary School,40 Florida Road off Route 102. Free shuttles will run to and from Weir Farm between 2-6 p.m. No tickets will be sold at Weir Farm National Historic Site. You can buy tickets online at www.jazzatweir.com or Branchville Elementary School on Sunday. Adult tickets are $20.Tickets for ages 13-18 are $10. Children 12 and under are free.
