The Community and Culture
Westport’s vitality is legendary. The longstanding images of the New England town defined as an artists’ colony still remain, while executives and professionals from the arenas of advertising, finance, communications, national and international business have created a new diversity. Artistically and culturally vibrant, it has long been a creative center and celebrity retreat. Theatre and the arts flourish at The Westport Country Playhouse, the Levitt Pavilion and the Westport Arts Center. Today’s Westport is a highly involved, affluent community of approximately 27,000 people, where the Saugatuck River meets Long Island Sound. Waterfront homes abound, both at the beach and along the Saugatuck River; as well as countryside estates with bucolic landscapes and breathtaking vistas. The thriving downtown Main Street area along the river provides trendy shops, boutiques and exceptional services representing upscale shopping amid an atmosphere still imbued with New England charm. Restaurants make Westport the dining center of Fairfield County; blending the small town atmosphere with cosmopolitan flare.

Educational Facilities
Westporters are well educated, charged with passion and energy in the pursuit and support of all those elements that make a great life. An exceptional school system is the focus of this strong community. Five elementary schools, two middle schools and Staples High School have demonstrated the efficacy of Westport’s small class sizes and outstanding programs which produce excellent test scores. Private schools include the preschool Landmark Academy and Green’s Farms Academy (K-12).

Recreational Facilities
As a shorefront town, Westport has over 210 acres of recreational facilities. A broad selection of activities is available to residents including Long Shore Country Club; with its 18 hole golf course, tennis courts and pool; sailing, three town beaches, a boating marina and yacht basin, sports fields and a state-of-the-art beach playground. Located in the center of town is Winslow Park, famously known as “The Dog Park”. Earthplace, Wakeman Town Farm, Rolnick Observatory and the new YMCA continue to offer exceptional recreational and education opportunities to residents.

Transportation
Located an hour from Manhattan (a 40 mile distance), Westport is easily accessible via Interstate 95, the Merritt Parkway and Metro-North commuter trains.
